Our History
Templeton Beer Wine & Spirit Co Ltd has a long and distinguished history – although unlike other drinks wholesalers, our origins are not in the drinks trade. The business we are proud to run today grew out of a West Wales logistics business, serving the agricultural community of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.
As he travelled the motorway network, Lyndon Belt recognised a hole developing in the drinks distribution trade in his local area, as small, local breweries and family distribution businesses closed or were bought out by multi-national brewers. At the same time, distribution shifted eastwards along the M4. For many of those in the licensed trade in West Wales, this meant less flexibility and no emergency cover. If the fridges stood empty after a heavy Friday night, there was nothing they could do but wait for a delivery 3 days later.
Switching focus to serving the licensed trade in this beautiful but remote part of the world, Lyndon took on the challenge of applying his in-depth knowledge of supply chain and logistics to developing a wholesale and distribution service for licensees from Angle to Aberystwyth, and Ammanford (and back again).
Today, we pride ourselves on offering superb customer service and the flexibility to respond to our customers’ needs both day to day and as the seasons fluctuate. We understand that it’s not always convenient to place your order during office hours, so our answer machine is always on. We know that same day delivery can make the lives of our licensee customers so much easier – so we aim to do this where we can.
We operate a fleet of distinctive brown and cream vans, driven by a dedicated team whose knowledge of the highways, byways and lanes of West Wales is second to none. Our office team is on hand to provide the support and information our customers need – and if we can’t help you, we’ll make sure we pass you on to someone who can.
We also offer a distribution service, invaluable to multi-national, national and small scale breweries alike wanting to extend their presence into West Wales. Retail customers can enjoy home delivery of their favourite wines and bottled beers, lagers and ciders supported by our excellent customer service.
